As you know, I’ve been on the hunt for a desk/vanity and, more recently, a thrifted version of the trunk/coffee table of my dreams. Which means the ol’ CL and I are pretty tight these days.
Super sad side note: Yesterday I actually FOUND that trunk (well, the original Crate & Barrel version…it used to be around $400) on Craigslist for ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS. As I struggled to contain my cardiac arrest, I quickly sent off an email to the seller. An hour later, she emailed me back that it had been sold. Womp. To the. WOMP. So the trunk search goes on to live another day.
Of course, half the fun of Craigslist is the hunt. And, as Stacey pointed out, what you find along the way.
Take, for example, what I found this morning.
As I perused the furniture for sale section, this headline caught my eye:
Handpainted Cat Chair – $40
Don’t mind if I do, Craigslist. Don’t mind if I DO.
What awaited me at the end of that link can only be described as the greatest thing ever. First, in case you’re unfamiliar with what a handpainted cat chair is, this is what it looks like:
Hmm? Yes? You want to see more? Did you happen to notice the HANDPAINTED CAT ON THE SEAT OF THE CHAIR?
Would you believe you haven’t even seen the best part? (I know, you guys. I KNOW. THERE’S MORE.)
Just in case you saw this listing and were thinking to yourself, “Hmm…I wonder what inspired such a decadent work of art?”
Obviously it was her own Mr. Bootsy. (I can only assume that is the cat’s name.)
I just…love everything about this woman. I love that she had a chair that needed to be painted and decided to paint a cat on it. I love that she is so good at painting cats. I love that she decided to share her gift with the world. I love the collection of “detail” shots she put together to really advertise the chair’s strengths. In short…I love her.
So maybe I didn’t find a vanity or a coffee table trunk this morning. I’m still going to chalk today up as a success.
All thanks to Mr. Bootsy.
